"What's it gonna cost?"
 
A friend who is starting a word processing company said paying by the hour rewards slow workers and penalizes efficient ones.  Good point.  That's why I'm reluctant to price by the hour as it is to our benefit to be slow.  But, on the other hand, more complicated projects will require more effort and more imagination.   We've tried to compromise and plan for both through our flat-rate basic web design package offer and hourly advanced web page design and management service.
 
 
Basic  
web page design package:  
  • Goals & marketing strategy questionnaire
  • Research of competitor web sites
  • Design concept including clip art if desired
  • Domain or web site address research
  • Getting your site online with one page of information you provide
$75 
Advanced  
web page design & management:  
  • Writing or editing copy for your web page 
  • Training you to make changes to your web page (plus travel costs if necessary)
  • Adding links to your page
  • Adding shopping carts, counter, guest books, automated responders
  • Scanning and retouching your images, photos, & artwork
$35 per hour (we'll do it as quickly as possible) 
Usually one week service 
Same day service:  Add $15 per hour
