are those

Calm times when the water is still or rippled.

When the winds are from the west rather than northern or eastern breezes.

When flies are hatching - match your fly or go fishless!

When the barometer is rising or steady -- fish are hungry even when it is raining.

Early to bed, early to rise, fish all day, make up lies.

So, try the hour or so just after sunup or just before sunset.

Before and one hour after the ocean tide's ebbing.

Also, one hour before and one hour after high tides and

one hour before and one hour after low tides which are halfway between high tides.
