Hay for sale
We now call him: Robert Bennett, International Harvester of Mystery
because we don't know why he works so hard at making hay!
Architect & engineer Robert has learned to make square bales of hay.
Actually he needs to be a mechanic & welder because
I never knew making hay required so many different types of machines
(you've got to cut, fluff, rake and bale)
and such a perfect stretch of weather.
Many old wives sayings, such as
"Make hay while the sun shines"
now have greater meaning
since the weather is critical to our success with hay.
Wet hay molds and our 1940s John Deere 14T baler won't bale it anyway.
Our hay is orchard grass with red and white clover.
Thanks to all our customers, we're sold out for winter 1998!
Contact us now about purchasing our spring & summer cuttings.
Our neighbors are fascinated
why anybody would make such a crop
that requires such intensive labor.
One neighbor recently gave us this story:
The Lord Understands
As long as there have been farmers,
there has been the dilemma of
whether to be in church on Sunday
or to make hay while the sun shines.
Verlyn Lane of Blue Earth, Minnesota
offers this story of the farmer
who spent Sunday morning trying
to get hay in ahead of the rain.
As he came down the road with a full load of hay,
the farmer met the preacher
who looked at him reproachfully.
"Reverend," the farmer explained,
"it's better to be sitting on this hay thinking about God,
than sitting in church thinking about hay."
