As Robert began patching the beautiful plaster ceiling in the dining room we started talking about how many dozen people had been married under it. Literally hundreds of folks came to Melrose for many years to marry. I said it would be fun to reopen Melrose for weddings and receptions, including anniversaries and vow renewals. Maybe it was the thin air at the top of the eight foot step ladder needed to work on the 12 foot ceilings, or maybe it was the beautiful memories evoked in the room, but Robert agreed!
If you would like to consider this wonderful historic home for your special occasion, please contact me, Catherine Bennett, at 800-711-4620. We're thinking seriously about letting others share the love and joy of this setting, and would enjoy helping brides and grooms through the fun of their special day when they can do anything they want. We could appear in costume or follow a service from an old prayer book. We're not limited to any conventions except as imposed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and our imaginations!
You may be like us and not want to go to a church
to renew your marriage vows. Or you might be like some of our friends
who don't
want
to or are prohibited from marrying in a church. Or perhaps this is
a second or more marriage for you and you want something different.
So marry here. Let's have some fun with this madness sparked still
celebrating five wonderful years. Heck, we could even make Lancaster the
most happily married county in America! It's a great place to start!
Give us a call. Maybe by the time you're ready to set the date I'll figure
out what a diamond ring dome is.
