Morattico Waterfront Museum

Among the items related to watermen's activities on display
in the museum is resident Cecil Bromley's boat compass. To hear Bromley
talk of a waterman's experiences is to have a lesson in the heritage of
Morattico. He speaks of voyages home with his father on the river
through snow and fog with no visibility when even his father was doubtful,
the compass never failed. In the aftermath of Hurricane IsaBell,
Bromley found the cherished old compass in the sand across the road from
his home on Riverside Drive.
Like all good museum artifacts, this one has many stories.
Even better is to hear them from Cecil himself.
